BIOGRAPHY
Enrico Nicodemo, in art Demo’
Born 12/12/1966 in Sicilì, in the province of Salerno, but lives in Milan.
Has created many works of art, several of which have been acquired by private collectors or galleries.
Various exhibitions, in Italy as well as abroad.
Painting was his first passion , and from a very young age he has dedicated himself to art,
experimenting with various depicting techniques.
His preferred technique is the oil brush painting, alternating with acrylic colours.
He declares himself a lover of music, of all genres of music, classical one in particular.
Plays the piano and guitar, and composes musical pieces with his friends.
Music represents for him a source of inspiration for creating pictures, and vice-versa.
Being a lover of air and light, he uses various means of expression, starting from realistic forms to reach a forceful,
sometimes even a violent statement, arriving finally at a point where rigorous control of form
allows emotion to become symbol.
His work is extraordinarily powerful, and contains an irresistible intellectual charge, always ready to express itself.
His painting reveals moods, moments from everyday life, thoughts, fantasies.
His pictures are imbued with concealed emotion; for the artist, the importance lies in leading the mind beyond
that which the eyes observe, in knowing how to tell us of his joy of living, his love for the world.
The art critic Andrea Dipré has thus written:’ Entering into the imaginary empire could mean accessing
the realm of seduction, whose irresistible and frantic strength is the mean by which the vision speaks to us.’
The inaccessible, the endless, the illogical and the unexpected are the conditions created by the passion of the image.
When we talk of painting as painting, or of the complete and supreme act of dedication to the visible,
we are often confronted only with the image, but not in order to reduce the image at the dimensions of the world,
on the contrary, to convert the universe to the expansion of the imaginary.
Enrico Nicodemo DEMO’ works for a long time in this direction, by means of a visionary work, full of images and signs,
illuminated at the same time by a fiery onirical activity and a controlled behaviour.
His work has always a sense and a global reading, for this reason might be difficult to choose a representative example:
each artistic cycle, always efficient, has allowed the spring of the next one.
Clear signs of the unconscious are emerging out of the work of this unique and mature artist:
in the rapid strokes or in the calligraphic depictions of many backgrounds, which reminds us about the Bretonnian
automatic writing, in some fantastical forms or in some subjects recognizable morphologically,
but placed in unreal contexts.
A sort of transgression against the language of the convention, of tradition, habitude and ordinary.
The works of DEMO’ are the works of the thousand wonders, the forms are simple and concise, dictated by the mutual
interpenetration of the external impressions with the inner experiences.
